Neuroqueer writer and actor Cameron Hurry’s first foray into screenwriting was with his short horror film Night Fill, in which he also starred. It won various awards including Best Actor and Best Horror (Sanctuary Cove Film Festival), Best Film (Reel Escape Film Festival), the Judges Award (Australian Independent Film Festival), as well as being nominated for Best Horror (Sydney Indie Film Fest), and securing a Top 10 placement within the Best Short Films of the year at the Stellar Short Film Festival.
His follow up comedy short film, Christian in the Closet, received the People’s Choice Award at the Muskoka Queer Film Festival.
For the stage, Cameron penned his first full length comedy as a part of Playlab‘s Incubator program, and as part of 2023’s Brisbane Festival his first published theatre work, Unconditional, will have it’s premiere season at the Brisbane Powerhouse.
Cameron is currently completing the feature-length version of Night Fill. Both this and his next comedy feature, Clowns on the Run, are in negotiations for production.
